Escrima Concepts Clacton. Locks and control techniques takes time and practice. Give them some pain first then go for the control technique that's available. The problem with this is that some techniques do not suit some people to apply nor do they work on everyone. Therefore, you may need to flow from one technique to another until one works (chain training). Never be despondent that one technique don't work - learn to go up and down and inside and outside of your opponent until you find the one that works. If he is too bulky, tall and strong or flexible you may have to give up restraining them and resort to strikes to finish them off. Here is an example of a small guy against a big guy where the resistance is strong but by moving and keeping two hands on one arm using, hips, knees, shoulders and feet, pivoting, pulling, turning and constantly flowing from one technique to another, one technique was eventually applied - it may not be the one he went for but it was the one he got and the one his opponent tapped out on. Wayne defends Albert's attack and attacks his body to drop his body. He controls Abert's head but Albert struggles so Wayne goes to an arm and neck roll to occupy Albert while he seeks a more secure control technique; Wayne moves to an inside elbow bicep lever to slow down Albert's resistance then switches to an outside elbow bar but Albert is too strong and Wayne switches to a reverse elbow bar, but Albert is able to stand so Wayne then switches to a high control and levers Albert to break his balance, pressure his spine and upper arm. He stops applying more pressure to avoid causing damage and Albert tapped out (finally).
